With the first month of 2017 behind us, the startup ecosystem in Spain has seen yet another 31 days of absolute success.
For Spanish startups, 2017 got off to a much better start than anyone could have predicted: in January, more than 35 million euros of investments were made through 27 different transactions, according to El Referente. With this incredible achievement, startups in Spain have more than doubled the number of transactions issued in January 2016, and nearly doubled the amount of total investment, as stated in the same report.
January’s big winners include a number of awesome Barcelona startups.
Eelp!, a personal care service app designed to take the weight of everyday affairs off your shoulders, closed its first round with 200,000 euros of funding. Their goals are to consolidate their presence in Barcelona, establish themselves in Madrid and go international as fast as possible.
Furgo, “the transport marketplace”, an app that could come in handy when you’re moving house, raised 275,000 euros of funding in the first round. The objective is to strengthen the presence of the platform in the Spanish market, and move on to other markets.
Shiji, the leading manufacturer of Chinese hotel information systems acquired a majority stake in ReviewPro, the world-leader cloud-based data and analytics provider of Guest Intelligence solutions for the hospitality industry, for 33 million euros. This is a huge opportunity for ReviewPro: according to their website, ReviewPro’s founders and management team will continue to lead the company as it grows and scales to a global presence, with new products and services.
Wow. It’s not going to be easy to top this one, so bring it on, February!
