The first ever Vacation Rental Tech Week, a series of meetups and events for the professional vacation rental industry, is happening in Barcelona from 1-5 April. Its mission is to connect property managers and owners with innovative technology partners so they can initiate, share and celebrate new visions and ideas. The week includes the popular VRTech event hosted by Rentals United, KigoWorld, a Guesty & Friends meetup and an event aimed at introducing the new Trips Community, an alternative holiday rental OTA based on the blockchain. Speakers at the four events include executives from Rentals United, Transparent, Guesty, Beyond Pricing, Kigo and also Matt Landau, founder of VRMB and Jeremy White, Executive Editor of Wired Magazine.

At the beginning of next month, Techfugees is organizing their hackathon for the first time in Barcelona to empower the displaced with technology. Techfugees is a global movement of 18 Chapters and 45,000 people around the world. They invite you to join them at an event that brings together the tech community, refugees and NGOs to identify the real challenges of refugees and generate new tech solutions to address these challenges. The goal is to create actual solutions to help with the refugee journey and settlement, welcome former refugees into the local tech community and create a bank of knowledge. It doesn’t matter if you’re not a “techie” and you have no idea what a hackathon is: everyone is welcome!
