AlphaBeers 2.0 – Time for Moonshots!

  • Wed, 4 July 6:30 pm @ Movistar Centre (Carrer Fontanella 2)

Alpha, the innovation startup powered by Telefonica, is building Moonshots right out of Barcelona – and they’re inviting you to join them. They’d love to meet the smartest, most creative, most tech-savvy people in the city and share a beer (or water) with you! At this event, there’ll be 45 minutes of short and amazing talks and then a full hour of networking. Alex Rodriguez, Knowledge Network Curator at Alpha will talk about simulation theory, Artificial Intelligence, directed panspermia and the science, technology and philosophy of how to know if we live in a simulated world. Speakers Sarah Shepherd, User and Design Researcher at Alpha Health and Emily Stott, Go-To-Market Manager at Alpha’s Health Moonshot will explore the power of experimentation, taking you on a journey of experiments that have had a significant impact on how things work the way we know them today.

 

Startup Weekend Barcelona – Social Impact

Do you have an idea you would like to pursue or a problem you would like to solve but don’t know where to start or who to start with? 54 hours is all you need to help the world of tomorrow, today. For the first time, Startup Weekend will be dedicated entirely to social impact in Barcelona, the hub of collaborative economy. Participants will be able to present their projects that seek to tackle our generation’s most challenging problems and receive feedback from mentors in the social impact community. They will develop the idea as well as devise a feasible business model. The event is aimed at technicians, designers, marketing professionals and business developers and will be held entirely in English.

 

Spanish Fintech Wars #1: A New Hope

A group of brave entrepreneurs are leading a revolution against the established financial services providers. Join them for a series of 9 monthly meetups both in Barcelona and Madrid! Each meetup will focus on a particular facet of FinTech and will feature local and international experts, with keynotes, panel discussions and a startup competition! The first meetup will talk about the rise of FinTech and how it changed the financial landscape. Listen to the speakers and selected startups before enjoying some draught beers (or wine) and food on the terrace. The programme will include talks by Pau Velando, General Manager at Strands; the fintech startup Verse; and Eloi Noya, Co-Founder at LoanBook. Startups interested in pitching can compete for a €500 cash prize!

Startup Grind Barcelona Hosts Pau García Milà, Co-Founder of IdeaFoster

This month, Startup Grind will feature an inspiring speaker from the younger generation of gamechangers: Pau García-Milà. Pau is an entrepreneur and communicator born in Barcelona in 1987. He founded his first company when he was only 17, which was later acquired by Telefónica. He was named “Innovator of the Year” in 2011 by an MIT publication and was awarded the “Príncipe de Girona Empresa” in 2010. Nowadays, Pau complements his work at IdeaFoster, which he co-founded, with teaching the Master in Digital Business at ESADE, and with being an external member of the research team at the Research Centre VC2020 for IMD. We’re excited to hear what he will reveal about his journey at this month’s Startup Grind!

Interested in learning about the recent trends and advances in the trajectory of space science and technology? YPinSpace is an international, interdisciplinary venture for advancing your career beyond the horizon. It serves as a launch pad for top performing students and professionals aiming to establish a career in the Space industry, by encouraging young professionals from different IEEE societies to partner and exchange technical knowledge through this platform. The ultimate goal is to develop a collaborative environment for knowledge sharing, boot camps and training on interdisciplinary subjects for young professionals. This 5-day program will consist of 20+ tracks, 20+ speakers and will provide the 150+ participants with access to lab, instruments, experts, mentors and design center.
