- Thu, 4 October 7:00 pm @ Iberostar Passeig de Gracia (10 Plaça Catalunya)
A rooftop pool. Excellent views of Barcelona from the top of the Apple store. Yummy sliders and even yummier cava. That’s the setting for Startup My Rooftop, a meetup for all entrepreneurs and startup people in Barcelona. If you can squeeze this casual afterwork into your tight weekday schedule, you can take part in a startup pitch tank and present your own company, listen to story time anecdotes by established founders, and do all the business networking you need for the month – maybe the whole quarter! As always, don’t forget to register. And pray for good weather!
- Fri, 5 October @ Auditorio Torre Telefonica Diagonal 00 (Plaça d´Ernest Lluch i Martin 5)
You know that humanoid robot Sophia? A video of a journalist interviewing her went viral earlier this year. Well, she’s not the only one who’ll be attending the 5th International HR Conference in Barcelona (and speaking about how robots and humans can work together). You’ll also be able to meet 300 other participants and listen to talks by speakers from Google, Tesla, Vistaprint, Telefónica and Alpha, just to name a few. Topics: Future of Work and Exponential Technologies; Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Humans at Work; and The Truth of Start-ups.
- Wed, 10 October 6:00 pm @ Ilunion Hotels (Carrer Ramón Turró 196-198)
Just like every Fall and Spring, Tech Job Fair is back in Barcelona! They’re on a mission to get everyone hired and fill every open position at Barcelona tech companies like BETWEEN Technology, Haufe, ID Finance, Lodgify, NetCentric, LoveToKnow Media and more. OK, maybe not every position, but you get it. This is your chance to meet your potential employers in person, instead of blindly sending out CVs and hoping they’ll hit an unsuspecting Hiring Manager out there. Introduce yourself, make first impressions, get feedback and get hired, whether you’re a developer, designer, marketer, analyst, or other tech profile.
- Tue-Thu, 16-18 October @ Fira Barcelona Gran Via Venue (Avenida Joan Carles I 64)
Two massive events in one, IoT Solutions World Congress and its not-so-little sister, Blockchain Solutions World Congress are coming to Barcelona. The former, as a leading event of the IoT industry, presents a wide range of quality content on several different tracks, with 14,000 visitors from 120 countries, 300 exhibitors and 300 top-level speakers. The latter is the world’s premier event on how the blockchain revolution is affecting most private and public sectors, focusing on solutions and real-world use cases. Whichever of the two defining technologies you’re interested in, you can’t miss this congress if you want to be all caught up on the state-of-the-art.
- Thu, 18 October 9:00 am – 10:00 pm @ Carrer Sant Adrià 20
With the subtitle “Common digital ethical standards and free software for cities”, this event wants to open the debate on the impact that new technologies have on cities and the need for them to use open standards and free software for citizens. It is a one-day event that includes conferences, demonstrations and debates open to digital communities, companies, universities and the general public. One of their main goals is to grow the free software community in Barcelona and scale solutions to tackle companies’ and the city’s challenges. If you want to get on board, don’t forget to sign up!
- Sat, 20 October 10:00 am – 9:00 pm @ Museo Marítimo de Barcelona (Avinguda de les Drassanes)
Promoted by Barcelona City Council, Barcelona International Community Day is the reference point for the expat community living and working in the Barcelona area. It’s going to be a fun day with a programme full of activities, conferences and workshops to help expats in 3 main areas: personal landing; working and doing business; and having fun and making new contacts, both on a personal and professional level. It will also present an exhibitor fair with companies, associations, clubs and schools aimed at Barcelona’s international community. There’s no reason not to sign up because it’s free!
Startup Grind at Elrow
- Thu, 25 October 7:00 pm @ Elrow House (Av. d’Esplugues 79)
In preparation for November Startup Grind Barcelona Conference, SG is hosting a presentation at Elrow (NOT in the usual Movistar Centre this time! ) – the first entertainment company to be sold to a VC fund in 2017. They’ll be interviewing Elrow CEO Juan Arnau, followed by a VIP cocktail for the community where we will announce the final speakers of the Startup Grind Barcelona Conference. It’s the last cozy get-together before the big conference, so make sure you take advantage of it!
